Sharing and spreading the spirit of scientific curiosity.

The INL - International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory is an intergovernmental organisation created to foster interdisciplinary research, development and implementation of nanotechnology and nanoscience. At INL, there are about 40 nationalities, with employees from five continents.

Here, we often say that we go to space every day. We manoeuvre devices that defy the limits of our imagination. We work with materials that at first sight would never be detected, and we call them atoms and call them the ‘nanoscale’, which is 1 million times smaller than a millimetre.

We want to empower citizens with knowledge, demystify what we do and break down the barriers that separate the researcher from the citizen. We want to show you that science can be fun. We want to inspire lifelong learners and science enthusiasts just like ourselves. We believe that the great scientists of tomorrow are sitting in today's classrooms, and sparking curiosity is our mission.

We foster new learnings each new day, we share the spirit of giving by addressing society’s grand challenges with specific emphasis on Ageing & Wellbeing, Mobility & Urban Living and Safe & Secure Society.

Visit INL

Thank you for your enthusiasm in visiting the International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory (INL) and for your commitment to inspiring students with topics such as Nanotechnology and Nanoscience.

Due to the increasing number of requests, we are currently unable to accommodate individual school visits. However, we remain deeply committed to connecting science with the community and are pleased to announce two exciting upcoming events: the 2025 European Researchers’ Night and the 2026 INL Open Day.

These events will offer students and teachers a unique opportunity to explore the world of nanotechnology, engage with hands-on activities, and meet our researchers in person.

More details about the program and locations will be available soon. We look forward to welcoming your school to these inspiring initiatives.
